Food Pantry Days of Operation: Tuesdays: 6:30PM-8:30PM and Thursdays 9 AM-12 PM; picture ID and proof of residency such as a utility bill, lease agreement, DHS statement, or campus housing verification is required on EVERY visit. We are not zip code specific, so it doesn’t matter where you live in order to receive assistance. Because we help families from all over and do not set distance parameters, you’re eligible to receive food from Highland every 60 days.
Highland has been providing a food pantry ministry to families in need for over 20 years. Highland is a certified partner with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and as such, we’re able to purchase food and other items for this ministry at significantly discounted rates.
Highland provides gospel resources along with food and personal hygiene items to individuals and families in crisis. There are no stipulations, the ministry is simply done “in Jesus’ Name.”
The food pantry is also available to college students. Paying for school is stressful enough. Going into more debt by charging groceries and fast-food is not the answer. We’d like to help. See the info above on what to bring on your visit.
In addition to our regular pantry ministry, there are special seasonal projects such as our annual Christmas basket ministry which has provided holiday food baskets and Christmas gifts for literally hundreds of children and families for over 20 years. This is a ministry the whole church gets involved in and receives a great deal of joy from each year.
Highland also extends this ministry to include the homeless population of our community and regularly give socks, gloves, coats, and lunches to homeless people who are either living on the streets or in shelters. As we meet these folks, we try to talk to them, listen to them, get to know them and pray with anyone who would like prayer. On occasion our students and music ministry volunteers lead worship and invite anyone who wants, to worship the Lord and sing praises. This is all completely voluntary–there are no “strings attached,” and everyone really seems to enjoy the interaction and worship together.
This ministry is provided by means of the donations of the members and friends of Highland.
